After the release of Malibu in 2017, Anderson .Paak linked up with with Dr. Dre who would oversee the production of Anderon's 3rd and 4th studio albums. Onxard released in November of 2018 is a nod to his hometown laced with heavier funk and serveral hip-hop guest features including Kendrick Lamar, Q-Tip, Snoop Dogg, J Cole, Pusha T and Busta Rhymes. He was working on Ventura at the same time and released it six months later with more soulful grooves and collaborations with R&B artists such as Smokey Robinson, Lalah Hathaway, Brandy, Jazmine Sullivan, and Nate Dogg.
